Attorney Brian R. Sullivan of Chelmsford, MA; lying loser

The state of Massachusetts presented Brian R. Sullivan with a law license in 1985 after he graduated from Suffolk University Law School.

The Board of Bar Overseers found Brian guilty of the following misconduct

• Failed to adequately communicate with client
• Knowingly lied to client about status of legal matter
• Failed to return client file to client or successor counsel after being fired
• Improperly with client’s representation without giving required notice to trial court
• Failed to provide information to client regarding status of legal matter

In one matter, a client hired Brian to contest a $105,000 judgment rendered against him. T he client claimed under oath that he never received notice of the trial date on the matter.

Shortly thereafter, Brian emailed the client and knowingly lied to him that he had forwarded a motion to vacate the judgment and the client’s affidavit to opposing counsel. Brian further advised the client that once he received opposing counsel’s response, he would file the motion to vacate and opposing counsel’s response with the trial court.

Unfortunately for the client (victim), Brian lied because he never filed the motion with the trial court.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Board of Overseers punished Brian by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand. 

As we speak (ca. January 2014 Brian practices with the Law Office of Sullivan and Carroll at 18 North Road in Chelmsford, Massachusetts.
