Attorney Randall Hall of Seattle; ethical gremlin

The state of Washington presented Randall Ralph Hall with a law license in 1975 after he graduated from the University of Detroit Law School.

The Washington State Bar found Randy guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to take reasonable steps to protect client interests after withdrawal
  • Failed to notify clients of withdrawing his representation

In one matter, Randy was hired by two brothers from El Salvador who were seeking asylum in the U.S. Several months later, the immigration judge denied the request for asylum but ordered that they be given the privilege of voluntary departure.

Randy filed a notice of appeal on behalf of the brothers, but he failed to file an appellate brief as required on their behalf. Randy stopped working on their appeal; however, he never informed them of his withdrawal.

Subsequently, the Appeal was dismissed on the grounds that no appeal brief was filed by Randy setting forth the basis for the appeal. Additionally, the brothers lost the privilege of voluntary departure due to Randy’s gross negligence.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Washington State Supreme Court punished Randy by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (January 2013), Randy is employed with the NW Defenders Association at 1109 First Avenue in Seattle, Washington.
