The state of Illinois presented William Stanley Sohn with a law license in 1979.
The Disciplinary Commission found Billy guilty of the following misconduct.
While he was employed as a public defender, Billy was appointed to defend a man charged with sexual assault.
Billy spoke to his client only once before trial and failed to interview any witnesses or conduct any pre-trial discovery.
The client was subsequently convicted, but an appellate court ruled that Billy ineffectively represented his client and reversed the conviction.
As a consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Illinois Supreme Court punished Billy by gifting him with a complimentary censure.
As we speak (ca. December 2013) Billy practices with the Doyle Law Firm at 1022 North Vermillion in Danville, Illinois.
