Former Judge Mohamed Hilmy of the Maldives; convicted pervert

At the time of his misconduct, Judge Hilmy was a Civil Court Judge in the Republic of the Maldives, which is an island nation in the Indian Ocean.

In early 2013, the Criminal court found Hilmy and his wife, Aiminath Ali guilty of having sex in public. According to the police officers that shadows of Hilmy and his wife were visible each time the Hulhule tower light passed them and as they walked closer they noticed that Aiminath had her pants down to her feet, and that Mohamed’s trousers were down to his knees, and Aiminath was sitting on his lap.

When the police officers approached within six feet and turned the searchlights on the pair, Aiminath got up and moved quickly to put up her pants but one of the officers ran and held her hand. Police said she tried to pull her pants up using her other hand but another office came and handcuffed her.

According to the arresting officers, Mohamed got up and started running but was also stopped and handcuffed.

The Criminal Court subsequently sentenced Mohamed and Aiminath to six months banishment and 15 lashes.

Had Mohamed engaged in this type of perverted conduct here in the U.S. of A., he likely would have been punished by being elevated to higher position such as an Appellate Judge or even a seat on a state Supreme Court.
