Attorney Bernard Hughes of Philadelphia; ethical misfit

The state of Pennsylvania presented Bernard Joseph Hughes with a law license in 2006

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel (ODC) has found Bernie guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Failed to provide competent legal services (Dumbo)
  2. Failed to adequately communicate with client
  3. Failed to appear at scheduled court hearings on client’s behalf
  4. Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  5. Failed to safeguard client property
  6. Failed to refund unearned fee (crook)
  7. Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  8. Failed to take reasonable steps to protect client’s interest after being discharged
  9. Failed to cooperate with Disciplinary Counsel (Up Yours, said Bernie!)
  10. Failed to keep client reasonably informed of status of legal matter
  11. Failed to respond to client requests for information
  12. Commingled client funds with personal funds
  13. Failed to provide client with written fee agreement
As a consequence of his of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court punished Bernie by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 2-year suspension of his law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Bernnie.

As we speak (ca. August 2013) Bernard practices at 2503 11th Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Warning: Bernie does not carry legal malpractice insurance
