The state of Minnesota presented Peter D. Bergstrom with a law license in 1974 after he graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School.
 
The Office of Lawyer Regulation found Peter guilty of misconduct on three separate occasions as set forth below.
 
Peter’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  1. Failed to communicate with client (victim)
  2. Failed to respond to discovery requests
  3. Faield to timely file required documents with trial court
  4. Failed to respond to court inquires regarding post-trial documents
As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Minnesota Supreme Court punished Peter by gifting him with a complimentary admonishment.
 
Peter’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

 
  1. Failed to comply with conditions of prior discipline
  2. Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  3. Made misrepresentations (lied) to client
  4. Failed to promptly surrender client file when fired
  5. Failed to cooperate with ethics investigator (Up Yours, said Pete!)
  6. Failed to comply with CLE (Continuing Legal Education) requirements
  7. Engaged in the illegal practice of law while license suspended
As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Minnesota Supreme Court punished Peter by gifting him with a complimentary 180-day suspension of his law license.

  2. Failed to timely provide active case file summaries
  3. Missed appointments with his supervising attorney
  4. Failed to complete work on draft labor agreement for client
  5. Failed to promptly return client’s filed after being fired
  6. Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Up Yours, said Pete!)
  7. Failed to act with due diligence
As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Minnesota Supreme Court punished Peter by gifting him with a complimentary stayed suspension of his law license.
 
In truth, the comedians sitting on the Minnesota Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Peter even though this was his 3rd bite at the Misfit Apple Tree.
