Attorney Jeannine Talbot of Torrington, CT; unethical Dufus

The state of Connecticut provided Jeannine M. Talbot with a law license in 1993.

The Statewide Grievance Committee found Jeannine guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Jeannine represented a husband and wife in a foreclosure action. The wife met with Jeannine to discuss the case and gave her a $200 retainer. Jeannine then filed an appearance with the trial court. Over the next six months, Jeannine only communicated with the client’s daughter who was a close personal friend about the client’s case. During this time, Jeannine never had any direct communication with her clients.

Subsequently, the foreclosure plaintiff filed a Demand for Disclosure of Defense, which Jeannine failed to respond too. Shortly thereafter, due to Jeannine’s gross negligence, the trial court granted the plaintiff’s request for a Foreclosure by Default. Jeannine failed to advise her client of the default judgment during a phone call with the client.

As a result of Jeannine’s gross negligence and incompetence, the client fired her and retained another attorney.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Statewide Grievance Committee punished Jeannine by gifting her with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. July 2013) Jeannine practices at 185 Albert Street in Torrington, Connecticut.
