Judge Michael Heavey of Seattle; certified Dumbo

The state of Washington presented Michael J. Heavey with a law license in 1976.

The Washington Commission on Judicial Conduct found Michael guilty of the following misconduct.

Mike found it acceptable to abuse his position by using court staff to write to members of the Italian judiciary regarding the Amanda Knox murder case. In addition to illegally using county paid court staff, Mike also used official court stationary that was paid for by the taxpayers.

In a vane attempt at levity, Mike defended his conduct by claiming he was merely trying to improve the fairness of the criminal proceedings in the Knox murder case.

Mike the Dumbo also spoke publicly on several occasions about the Knox case.

Only after he was busted did Mike admit that his conduct was prohibited by the Code of Conduct. He then laughingly declared that he wouldn’t do it again.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Washington Supreme Court punished Michael by gifting him with a complimentary admonishment.

As we speak (ca. June 2013), Mike the Dumbo remains sitting as a King County Superior Court Judge in Seattle, Washington.
