Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN): Today’s “IHOP Flip-Flopper” Award Winner

Congratulations to….

Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN)
Today’s “IHOP Flip-Flopper” Award Winner

Lamar learned the art of Flip-Flopping and distorting the truth while attending law school at New York University (NYU) in 1965.

On June 18, 2013, Lamar criticized Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) for asserting that he may go back on his initial pledge to not make changes to Senate filibuster rules.

Harry indicated a change in the filibuster rule if Republicans continued to obstruct President Obama’s nominees for federal judgeships.

Lamar feigned outrage that Reid would go back on his word not to change the rules so that only a simple majority (51 votes) would be needed to confirm an Obama nominee rather than 60 votes, which allows the minority Republicans to obstruct the process.

While spewing forth his feigned indignation, the Flip-Flopper failed to mention his own pledge in 2003 and 2005 to “never” filibuster a president’s judicial nominees.” As expected, that statement was a blatant lie as proven by Mr. IHOP’s conduct as set forth below.
  1. May 2011, filibusters Goodwin Liu for seat on 9th Circuit Court of Appeals
  2. July 2012, filibusters Robert Bacharach for seat 10th Circuit Court of Appeals
  3. March 2013, filibusters Caitlin Halligan for seat on 9th Circuit Court of Appeals
Congrats Lamar; keep up the good work! We should let everyone know of your amazing record as one of America’s Most Disrespected “Flip-Floppers”; you are far too humble.
