Ex-Judge Vickers Cunningham of Dallas; scofflaw; moron, ethical gnome

Up through 2006, Judge Vickers Cunningham sat on the 283rd District Court in Dallas.

Texas Election laws prohibit the use of campaign funds for personal use. Put simply, campaign funds can only be spent on official officeholder duties and/or for legitimate campaign purposes.

From late 2005 through May 2005, Judge Vickers Cunningham spent $1,043.02 in campaign funds to remodel the bathroom in his courtroom. Those charges are set forth below.
  • IMPORT STONE, 20050309, 468.71, REMODEL COURT BATHROOM
  • TEXAS STAR CABINETS, 20050423, 303.10, BATHROOM CABINETS
  • HOME DEPOT, 20050306, 23.90, OFFICE BATH REMODEL
  • HOME DEPOT, 20050407, 74.69, OFFICE BATH REMODEL
  • HOME DEPOT, 20050501, 8.78, OFFICE BATH REMODEL
  • HOME DEPOT, 20050506, 21.09, OFFICE BATH REMODEL
  • HOME DEPOT, 20050507, 49.18, OFFICE BATH REMODEL
  • SAM'S CLUB, 20050604, 13.93, TOWELS FOR BATH
  • 20050325, 18.12, FLOWER POTS
  • HOME DEPOT, 20041114, 36.40, OFFICE REMODEL MATERIALS
  • HOME DEPOT, 20041119, 17.58, OFFICE REMODEL MATERIALS
  • HOME DEPOT, 20041205, 7.55, OFFICE REMODEL MATERIALS
It would be laughable to the nth degree for Judge Vickers Cunningham to argue that these expenditures were related to official judicial duties or official campaign related activities.

Clearly spending over $1,000 to redecorate his chambers bathroom was a personal choice; therefore, in my opinion it was an illegal act.
