Attorney Sue Davidson of Cheyenne; ethical gremlin

The state of North Dakota presented Sue Davidson with a law license in 1978 after she graduated from the University of Wyoming Law School.

The Disciplinary Board found Sue guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Sue represented a client petitioner in regard to a confidential domestic proceeding in the 1st Judicial District Court for Laramie County that was assigned to Judge Peter Arnold. However, based on a standing order, the case was then given to Circuit Judge Tom Campbell.

Subsequently, a second motion for protective order between the same parties was filed and handled by Judge Campbell and was later heard by Judge Campbell. The following day, opposing counsel filed a Motion for Reassignment of Judge, asking that the matter be sent back to Judge Arnold.

Sue then filed a Resistance and Objection to the Motion for Reassignment of Judge. A hearing in the matter was then set by Judge Arnold. After learning that the case had been reassigned back to Judge Arnold, Sue’s client told her to do what you have to do because she didn’t want Judge Arnold as her judge.

In her subsequent motion, Sue alleged that opposing counsel and Judge Arnold had engaged in an improper ex parte communication in order to set the trial in the matter. Sue further alleged that Judge Arnold was rumored to afford favoritism to members of opposing counsel’s firm, and that such favoritism was at play in connection with Judge Arnold’s reassignment and setting of a trial date.

At a subsequent hearing, Judge Arnold asked Sue what investigation she did prior to accusing the Judge and opposing counsel of unethical conduct. Sue refused to answer the question.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the North Dakota Supreme Court punished Sue by gifting her with a complimentary 60-day suspension of her law license.

As we speak (ca. June 2013), Sue practices with Aspen Ridge Law Offices PC at 2232 Dell Range Blvd in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
