Attorney Arthur Whelan, Jr. of Attica, MI; ethical misfit

The state of Michigan provided Arthur Whelan, Jr. with a law license in 1964 after he graduated from Wayne State University Law School in Detroit.

A disciplinary hearing panel found Arthur guilty of the following misconduct.
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to adequately communicate with client
  • Allowed client to perform majority of research re: pending appeal
  • Failed to answer formal ethics complaints (Up Yours, said Arthur!)
  • Neglected his obligations to client
  • Lack of candor (truthfulness) toward the hearing panel
As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers sitting on the Michigan Supreme Court punished Arthur by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. May 2013) Arthur practices at 49 Lone Oak Drive in Attica, Michigan.
