Attorney Stanley Murray of Scottsdale, AZ; thief, repeater

The state of Arizona presented Stanely D. Murray with a law license in 1982 after he graduated from the University of Arizona Law School.

The Arizona State Bar found Richard guilty of the following misconduct.

Stanley’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
  • Misappropriated (stole) his clients settlement funds
  • Intentionally and repeatedly lied to his client
In an action against Budget Rent-a-Car, Stanley succeeded in obtaining a settlement for his client. Stanley not only kept the amount of the settlement to which he was entitled to fees, but also the client’s portion. For over six months, Stanley repeated lied to his client and to his employers in order to conceal his wrongdoing.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders of Attorney Misfits sitting on the Arizona Supreme Court punished Richard by gifting him with a complimentary 2-year suspension of his law license.

Because Attorney Misfits in Arizona are held to a much lower standard of conduct then everyone else, Stanely was never criminally charged with grand theft.

In one matter, Stanley represented an elderly and destitute client as a defendant in a civil action. Subsequently, a judgment was awarded against Stanley’s client in the amount of $9,000 plus interest and attorney fees.

The client sold her mobile home to help satisfy the judgment. Stanley oversaw additional installment payments on the judgment balance and deposited those into his business account rather than his trust account. Stanley failed to make timely payments on the judgment and some payments made were not credited due to insufficient funds in the account.

In another matter, Stanley represented a client in a personal injury claim and won a judgment in the amount of $72,989.75 for his client. After negotiating a $1,250 reduction in a medical lien, Mr. Murray retained the savings for approximately ten weeks.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders of Attorney Misfits sitting on the Arizona Supreme Court punished Richard by gifting him with a complimentary 6-month suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. April 2013) Richard practices with The Murray Law Offices PC at 8070 Morgan Trail in Scottsdale, Arizona.
