The state of Illinois presented Brent A. Smith with a law license in 1998.
The Disciplinary Commission found Daniel guilty of the following misconduct.
Brent found it acceptable to sign another attorney’s endorsement to a $2,000 client personal injury settlement check without authority from that attorney. In addition, Brent delayed the resolution of that attorney’s fee claim.
As a consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Illinois Supreme Court punished Brent by gifting him with a complimentary censure.
As we speak (ca. March 2013) Brent practices at 221 North La Salle Street in Chicago, Illinois.
