Judge Walter Ndolo of Kenya; ethical gremlin

On March 15, 2013, Kenya’s Judges and Magistrate’s Vetting Board (JMVB) dismissed Judge Nyarima for gross misconduct during its ongoing review of the judge’s performance.

Recently, a relative of Judge Ndolo’s was convicted of raping a 10-year-old child in his court. Judge Ndolo then sentenced the relative to a light sentence.

In one matter, Judge Nyarima presided over a case wherein a man was convicted of raping a 10-year-old child. Nyarima relied on an erroneous technicality that was based on the wrong section of the law to avoid sentencing the pervert to a life sentence.

In addition, Nyarima would tear case files, keep files under lock and key and took bribes from those able to pay for favorable rulings.

Had Judge Nyarima been sitting on the bench in New York or Florida, he may not been removed for such conduct.

It’s nice to know that Kenyans don’t tolerate such egregious misconduct.
