Judge Tim Barnack of Medford, OR; disciplined for telling it like it is

The state of Oregon presented Timothy Barnack with a law license in 1991 after he graduated from Lewis & Clark Northwestern Law School.

Judge Barnack was assigned to preside over the case of Richard L. Taylor. Taylor was convicted of twenty-one (21) counts related to child sex abuse. Judge Barnack sentenced Taylor to a life sentence on each of the twenty-one (21) counts.

During the sentencing hearing, Judge Barnack told Taylor that community members wondered why he wasn’t hanging from a tree (Medford Mail Tribune). Judge Barnack went on to say:
  •  “You are a bad person,” and called him “a piece of shit.”
  • “I don’t think you have a soul.”
  • “We are going to make sure you never get out.”
It is refreshing to know that Judge Barnack had the courage and fortitude to tell it like it is. Put simply, the truth will set you free!

However, the buffoons (my apologies to buffoons) sitting on the Oregon Supreme Court recently (ca. Jan 2013) ruled that Judge Barnack’s conduct violated the Code of Judicial Conduct. The comedians on the Court then went about punishing Judge Barnack by issuing him a reprimand.

Are there any Oregonians that are convinced that Judge Barnack committed misconduct by calling a convicted pedophile a “piece of shit”?

Kudos to Judge Barnack for having the courage to “tell it like it is.”
