Attorney Elizabeth Fischer of Alexandria, VA; congenital liar
The Virginia State Bar Disciplinary Board found Elizabeth Margaret Fischer guilty of the following misconduct.
In one matter while employed by the Cohen Mohr law firm, Elizabeth was assigned to handle the case of Bekin Veseli as a result of water damages she incurred at her condominium. Subsequently, Elizabeth left the Cohen Mohr firm and it was agreed that she would take the Veseli case with her.
Elizabeth then filed a lawsuit against several defendants seeking recovery of water damages to Mr. Veseli’s condominium. Unbeknownst to Veseli, Elizabeth failed to have the lawsuits served on the defendants. Eventually, Elizabeth prepared an amended complaint, but she never filed it with the Loudoun County Circuit Court.
Over the next four months, Veseli requested updates on the lawsuit. Despite not serving the lawsuit on the defendants, Elizabeth lied to him by telling him that she was going to be taking depositions of the defendants. Elizabeth also left a voicemail with Veseli falsely advising him that the case was proceeding, that the depositions of the defendants would be taken in the next two or three weeks, and expressed her optimism that their would be a positive resolution of the case.
As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Virginia State Bar Disciplinary Board punished Elizabeth by gifting her with a complimentary admonishment.
As we speak (ca. March 2013), Elizabeth practices at 2323 Henshaw Place in Alexandria, Virginia.
