Attorney Robert Faucheux, Jr. of Laplace, LA; ethical gremlin

The state of Louisiana presented Robert R. Faucheux, Jr. with a law license in 1975.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel found Robert guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Engaged in a conflict of interest
  2. Violated duties owed to his clients
  3. Abandoned his client
  4. Failed to communicate with client
  5. Failed to act with reasonable diligence (slacker)
  6. Failed to report court imposed sanction to Disciplinary Counsel
  7. Engaged in the unauthorized practice of law
  8. Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
In one matter, Robert was hired by Harold Washington to pursue a property damage and loss of consortium claim related to an automobile accident. Leroy Respondent failed to advise Mr. Washington of the trial date and then failed to pursue Washington’s claims at trial.

Subsequently, Robert entered into a settlement without Mr. Washington's knowledge or consent. Robert then instructed his office staff to secure signatures for the settlement agreement in Robert’s absence. Mr. Washington was not notified of the settlement and his signature was forged on the release documents.

In a second matter, Robert was hired to represent Catherine Brown Scot t in a slip and fall case which occurred in Texas. Shortly thereafter, Robert filed a lawsuit in the 151st Judicial District Court in Harris County (Houston), Texas. At the time, Robert absolutely knew he was not licensed to practice law in Texas. Subsequently, the defendant in the case filed a motion to disqualify Robert and for sanctions for the unauthorized practice of law. The trial court imposed a $1,000 sanction against Robert.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Louisiana Supreme Court punished Robert by gifting him with a complimentary 180-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca) January 2013) Robert practices at 197 Belle Terre Blvd in Laplace, Louisiana.
