Attorney James Carey of Chicago; lying loser

The state of Illinois presented James Richard Carey with a law license in 1989 after he graduated from Loyola University Law School.

The Disciplinary Commission found James guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter James failed to appear in connection with a client’s chancery lawsuit. James’ gross negligence and incompetence subsequently led to the trial court dismissing his client’s case for want of prosecution.

To make matters worse, James lied about the status of the case to his client for several years after lawsuit was dismissed.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Illinois Supreme Court punished James by gifting him with a complimentary 30-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. December 2012) James practices with Levin, Schreder & Carey Ltd. at 120 North LaSalle Street in Chicago, Illinois.

On his self-serving website at www.levinschreder.com, James makes absolutely no mention of his misconduct as aforementioned. Apparently, James and his law partners, Robert M. Levin and Carleen L. Schreder decided it was best to conceal this information so as to not limit their future victim pool.
