Sacramento News & Review – March 20, 2008 - There Goes Da Judge

There Goes Da Judge

Race to the Bottom readers are already familiar with the ongoing saga of Judge Peter J. “Chainsaw” McBrien.

Ulf Carlsson, organizer of the campaign to recall McBrien, reports that the petition has been approved and he and a group of 30 or more individuals upset with the treatment they received in the judge’s family law courtroom are proceeding full steam-ahead with their efforts. They must collect 29,272 signatures by August to place the issue on November’s ballot. Expect to see them outside of local Targets and WalMarts soon. Meanwhile, at a meeting of the petitioners Tuesday night, Folsom-based judicial watchdog Dave “The Dawg” Palmer offered several tips on expressing their public opinion about McBrien:

1. Have someone make a look-alike (Nixon-type) mask; have someone wear it along with Paul Bunyon garb and have the guy flailing away with a chainsaw equipped with a “silencer” and do this in front of his house, the courthouse or the statehouse.

2. Have someone with an “A-Frame” with McBrien’s photo on it walking in front of the courthouse passing out “wanted posters” that have his picture on them saying “Wanted for being a Corrupt Judge” and then list the things he’s done wrong. Have T-Shirts printed inexpensively with the wanted posters on them.

3. Find out if he’s scheduled to go to any judicial conference and then hand out the wanted posters there. And if he is, and approach McBrien as a supporter of the judiciary and ask some pointed questions about the whackos passing out flyers. In the interest of accuracy, make sure you’re wired for sound.
Disclaimer: The SNR does not endorse any of the above actions, although it seems like they might be effective. For more information on holding judges and other elected officials accountable, call us or call in The Dawg at http://www.noethics.net/
