Attorney Ryan Lister of Wausau, WI; moronic repeater

The state of Wisconsin presented Ryan D. Lister with a law license in 1976 after he graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School.

The Office of Lawyer Registration (OLR) found Ryan guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  2. Failed to communicate with client
  3. Failed to advise client of matters involving her litigation
  4. Failed to provide competent representation (moron)
  5. Failed to timely provide client file to client after being fired
In one matter, Ryan represented a woman in an impaired-driving matter. Ryan later suggested to the client that she sue the county where she had been arrested regarding the jail personnel’s treatment of her while was detained. The client signed a contingent fee agreement with Lister and paid him $500 for costs. Ryan then spent $364.40 for filing and postage costs but did not return the unused portion of the $500 to the client.

Subsequently, Ryan filed a federal lawsuit on his client’s behalf but he never served it on the county or the sheriff. The trial court subsequently sent notice to Ryan of a telephone pretrial conference, but he did not appear for it. As a result of Ryan’s gross incompetence, the trial court dismissed his client’s lawsuit. Ryan did not tell his client that her lawsuit had been dismissed.

Of course this wasn’t Ryan’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He was previously disciplined on two (2) occasions. In the first instance, Ryan received a complimentary reprimand. In the second instance, he received a complimentary 5-month suspension of his law license.

As a consequence of his 3rd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Wisconsin Supreme
Court punished Ryan by gifting him with a complimentary 60-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. December 2012) Ryan practices with the Law Office of Ryan D. Lister at 408 3rd Street in Wausau, Wisconsin.
