Attorney Christine Nash of Sydney, Australia; congenital liar

A three-member panel of the Administrative Decisions Tribunal found Christine guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Provided false evidence in a District Court case
  2. Engaged in reckless manner in verifying court documents she used in court
  3. Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonest or misrepresentation
  4. Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
Christine’s misconduct revolved around a property deal involving her bankrupt lover and another investor that went bad. Christine found it acceptable to provide false evidence in a District Court case when she denied an “interest” in the development deal for two Balmain flats.

Christine’s answers in court were designed to minimize her role and suggested that she had no financial or personal interest in the outcome of the transaction when this clearly was not the case.

Christine represented actor Rachael Taylor against her former fiancé Matthew Newton, who had worked with her business partner Graham Vaughn in developing and selling units in Manly, Vale, Dee Why, Balmain and Chatswood.

George Ferizis paid $500,000 for options over a $675,000 unit and a $700,000 unit in Beattie Street, Balmain. Subsequently, Mr. Ferizis decided against proceeding with the deal. At the time, Graham Vaughn was bankrupt. Mr. Ferizis was unable to recover any money and then sued the couple’s company. Ferizis argued in District Court that the agreement included Christine’s signature guaranteeing repayment of his $500,000. Christine falsely told the District Court that Ferizis hadn’t asked for guarantees, when she knew that statement was patently false.

As we speak (ca. November 2012), the Administrative Decisions Tribunal hasn’t issued a ruling as to Christine’s punishment. Given its track record of acting as an enabler for Attorney Misfits, Christine doesn’t have too much to worry about.
