Attorney John Blackburn of Brighton, CO; ethical leprechaun
The state of California provided John M. Brighton with a law license in 1979 after he graduated from the California College of Law in Los Angeles, which is a 4th tier school dedicated to serving losers that couldn’t get accepted into mainstream schools like UCLA, Pepperdine, USC or Stanford.
The California Bar Court found John guilty of the following misconduct.
In an effort to protect himself from a pending lawsuit involving a photo business he owned and operated, John secured a fraudulent loan and deed to the title of his home. John also gave false information on his bankruptcy petition regarding the fictitious loan.
During this period of time, John and his wife were in the process of divorcing. In addition, the bankruptcy proceedings resulted in a $160,000 judgment against John, to be paid to a photo company. The same day John and the photo company executed a release, John quitclaimed his one-half interest in his home to the photo business.
Subsequently, a re-conveyance of the fictitious deed of t rust, in favor of John and his wife was executed and recorded. Two days later John quitclaimed his interest in the home to his wife, without notifying the photo business.
John was later sued by the photo company and a judgment was entered that specifically declared the quitclaim deed to be fraudulent.
Because Attorney Misfits in California are held to a lower standard of conduct then everyone else, John was never prosecuted for his criminal conduct.
As a consequence of his misconduct, the supporters for Attorney Misfits sitting on the California Bar Court punished John by gifting him with a18-month suspension of his law license
As we speak (ca. November 2012) John practices in the Brighton, Colorado area.
