Attorney Arnold Abelow of Everett, MA; repeat offender, Dufus
The Massachusetts Supreme Court provided Arnold Abelow with a law license in 1969.
The Board of Bar Overseers found Arnold guilty of the following misconduct.
Arnold was hired to represent a client charged with selling heroin in a school zone to an undercover police officer. Subsequently, Arnold and the prosecutor filed a joint pretrial conference report, which required the defendant to provide the prosecutor with notice of any alibi defense.
Arnold the Dufus failed to make any reasonable effort to investigate the circumstances of a potential alibi defense, to contact an alibi witness who might be available, to examine business records that might provide a substantial ground of defense or to ask for a continuance to obtain complete records on behalf of his client (victim).
The Board specifically found Arnold the Dufus guilty of failing to provide competent legal services.
And this wasn’t Arnold’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He previously received a complimentary informal admonition for neglect of a legal matter entrusted to him. He also received a complimentary reprimand for again neglecting a legal matter entrusted to him.
As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Massachusetts Supreme Court punished Arnold by gifting him with a complimentary 90-day suspension of his law license.
As we speak (ca. Jan 2012) Arnold is practice law at 459 Broadway in Everett, Massachusetts.
