Attorney David L. Travis of Amity, AR; repeat offender

The state of Arkansas provided David Lewis Travis with a law license in 1995.

The Arkansas Supreme Court Committee on Professional Conduct found David guilty of misconduct on several occasions as set forth below.

In this instance, David received a complimentary caution for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

David’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree - 2003

Sherrell Whisenant hired David to represent her on charges of possession of a firearm and theft of property and to file an appeal on her behalf. Sherell had been convicted of insurance fraud and sentenced to 72-months imprisonment.

Subsequently, Dave filed seven (7) motions to extend the time to file an appellate brief on behalf of Sherrell. After his seventh filing for an extension, the trial court dismissed the appeal and referred Dave’s misconduct to the Office of Professional Conduct.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Arkansas Supreme Court Committee on Professional Conduct punished David by gifting him with a complimentary 180-day suspension of his law license.
