The state of Illinois presented Larry E. Smith with a law license in 1994.
 
The Disciplinary Commission found Larry guilty of misconduct on several occasions.
 
Larry’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree – 2005
 
The Commission found Larry guilty of the following misconduct involving seven (7) clients (victims).
  1. Failed to act with reasonable diligence (slacker)
  2. Failed to reasonably explain matter to client to permit client to make informed decisions
  3. Failed to withdraw from representation when fired by client
  4. Failed to make reasonable efforts to expedite client’s litigation
  5. Failed to comply with client’s requests regarding representation
  6. Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
  7. Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  8. Engaged in conduct tending to bring the legal profession into disrepute
  9. Converted funds belonging to third party to his personal use (crook)
  10. Failed to respond to request for information by disciplinary commission
  11. Failed to keep client reasonably informed of status of legal matter
  12. Converted client funds to his personal use (thief)
  13. Engaging in conduct reflecting adversely on his fitness to practice law
Larry found it acceptable to falsely notarize the signature of two persons in regards to the transfer of property deeds.
 
As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Illinois Supreme Court punished Larry by gifting him with a complimentary 12-month suspension of his law license.
 
Larry’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree – 2007
 
In this instance, the Commission found Larry guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Committing a criminal act
  2. Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
  3. Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  4. Engaging in conduct reflecting adversely on his fitness to practice law
As a consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Illinois Supreme Court punished Larry by gifting him with yet another complimentary 12-month suspension of his law license.
 
As we speak (ca. August 2012) Larry practices with The Smith Law Firm at 9945 South Elgin Avenue in Forest Park, Illinois.
