Attorney Patrick Burkhart of Downers Grove, IL; greedy slacker

The state of Illinois presented Patrick Nicholas Burkhart with a law license in 1994.

The Disciplinary Commission found Patrick guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Failed to act with reasonable diligence (slacker)
  2. Failed to keep client informed about status of legal matter
  3. Failed to promptly refund unearned fee (crook)
  4. Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  5. Engaged in conduct tending to bring the courts/legal profession into disrepute
  6. Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
  7. False advertising as to law firm members
In one matter, Patrick had the chutzpah to use the name of a deceased patent attorney in the name of his new law firm even though he’d never been a partner or had any association with that lawyer prior to his death. Is this guy a certified moron or what?

In the other matters, Patrick’s misconduct involved three clients (victims) wherein he basically provided worthless services while refusing to refund unearned fees.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Illinois Supreme Court punished Patrick by gifting him a 90-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. July 2012) Patrick practices law at 701 Maple Avenue in Downers Grove, IL.

WARNING: Patrick does not carry legal malpractice insurance!
