Judge Thomas Adams Jr. of Santa Barbara, CA; serial offender

The state of California provided Thomas Reagan Adams Jr. with a law license in 1970 after he graduated from California Western University School of Law.

It should be noted that Former Gov. Jerry Brown was duped into appointing Tommy as a Santa Barbara County Municipal Court Judge in 1976. Tommy didn’t receive the appointment because he was the most qualified attorney in the greater Santa Barbara area. He received it because he had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks.

FYI: Tommy has had his significant snout firmly implanted in the public trough for the past forty-nine (49) years. Apparently, no self-respecting law firm in the greater Santa Barbara area ever offered Tommy a good paying job.

The California Judicial Commission found Tommy guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

Tommy’s 1st bite at the Judicial Misfit Apple Tree

  • Illegally ordered a pro se family law litigant into custody for two days, without a contempt hearing
  • Knowingly and egregiously violated a litigant’s right to be heard (aka, due process)

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Commission punished Tommy by gifting him with a complimentary “private” admonishment.

Tommy’s 2nd bite at the Judicial Misfit Apple Tree

  • Engaged in speech that reasonably be perceived as bias, prejudice, or harassment, based on sex or gender
  • Engaged in an ex parte (one-sided) communication with a jury foreperson

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Commission punished Tommy by gifting him with a complimentary “private” admonishment.

Tommy’s 3rd bite at the Judicial Misfit Apple Tree

  • Acted with poor demeanor at a hearing during an arraignment calendar
  • Expressed impatience with counsel for the defendant
  • Raised his voice and rose from the bench when addressing counsel
  • Flung moving papers at counsel, causing them to land in front of the podium where counsel stood

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Commission punished Tommy by gifting him with a complimentary “public” admonishment.

As we speak, (ca. May 2025), Tommy practices his so-called brand of jurisprudence as a Santa Barbara County Superior Court Judge in Santa Barbara, California
