Sen. J.D. Vance (OH): Today’s “Flip-Flop” Award Winner

Unfortunately, the state of Ohio presented James David Vance with a law license in 2013 after he graduated from Yale University School of Law.

During Donald Trump’s prior run for the presidency, J.D. made the following comments about him.

• ” I’m a never-Trump guy.”
• “I never liked him.”
• “He’s a terrible candidate.”
• “You’re an idiot if you voted for him.”
• “He might be America’s Hitler.”
• “He might be a cynical asshole.”
• “He’s cultural heroin.”
• “He’s noxious and reprehensible.”

After the Access Hollywood tape came out, J.D. liked a tweet that read:

“Maybe the Central Par 5 could take out a full-page ad to condemn the coddling of thug real estate barons who commit serial sexual assault.”

In late August 2017, J.D. denounced Trump’s Charlottesville riot comments praising the “very fine people on both sides, when he wrote:

“There is no moral equivalence between the anti-racist protestors in Charlottesville and the killer.”

In simple terms, J.D. once believed Trump was a cynical Hitler-type jerk. Honestly, that’s about the harshest thing one could say about Trump.

However, J.D. has now become a major Trump-supporting sycophant, especially since he’s been named on Trump’s list of potential Vice-Presidential candidates. Before donning his Industrial Strength Knee Pads, J.D. recently (circa May 2024) made the following statement:

• “I’m proud to be one of his strongest supporters in the Senate today, and I’m going to do everything in my power to ensure President Trump wins in November.”
• “The survival of America depends on it.”

If someone disliked Trump in the past by referring to him as a jerk and/or Hitler wannabe, then if they were an honest broker, they’d stick to their guns. However, when someone does a total flip-flop like J.D., it’s hard not to see them as a conniving hypocrite.

And lastly, it certainly appears that J.D. has missed his calling as a Standup Comedian.
