Magistrate Judge Ijeoma McDougall of England; ethical elf

The Law Society presented Ijeoma McDougall with a law license in 1983 after she graduated from the University of Essex School of Law.

The Judicial Conduct Investigations Office found Ijeoma guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Engaged in unprofessional conduct
• While involved in a contractual dispute, Justice McDougall referred to her status as a magistrate during a contractual dispute, which was perceived by the other party as a threat and an attempt to create undue pressure
• Improperly used her judicial status in an attempt to exert pressure and lend weight to her arguments
• Failed to appreciate and/or understand that her judicial status should not have been referred to in such a context
• Just Ijeoma’s conduct had the potential to damage the reputation of the magistracy

As a direct consequence of her misconduct Lord Chancellor and the Lord Chief Justice, acting as dual cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits punished Ijeoma by gifting her with a complimentary sanction of formal warning.

As we speak (ca. June 2024), Ijeoma continues to dispense her so-called version of jurisprudence as a Family Magistrate on the Merseyside Bench at 68 Waterloo Road in Liverpool, United Kingdom.
