Judge Stephen Harmes of England; ethical elf

The Law Society presented Stephen Harmes with a law license in 2014 after he graduated from the University of Essex School of Law.

The Judicial Conduct Investigations Office found Stevie guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Failed be courteous, patient, tolerant and respect the dignity of all appearing before him
• Asked a female advocate if she was pregnant in open court
• Failed to treat female advocate with respect and dignity
• Breached expected standards of judicial behavior

As a direct consequence of his misconduct Lord Chancellor and the Lord Chief Justice, acting as dual cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits punished Stevie by gifting him with a complimentary sanction of formal advice. Wow, I bet that must’ve been really painful for Stevie!

As we speak (ca. June 2024), Stevie continues to dispense his so-called version of jurisprudence as a District Court Judge in North London, England.
