The state of Arkansas presented Joseph Dewey Hughes with a law license in 1997.
The Arkansas Supreme Court Committee on Professional Conduct found Sam guilty of misconduct on several occasions, some of which is as follows.
Joey’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree – 2002
In late 200, Joseph and an encounter with Chase Holifield as they were both driving northbound on Highway 49 in Craighead County. After they both pulled over, Joe proceeded to curse Holifield, grabbed him and pushed him against a vehicle, which caused Joe to lose his wristwatch. Holifield then filed assault charges against Joey.
Subsequently, Joey called Holifield at his work place, demanded the return of his watch within 24 hours “or else,” and against cursed Holifield. Shortly thereafter, Joey showed up at Holifield’s workplace to ask him about his watch. Joey also contacted Holifield’s mot her about the matter. Joey was then convicted of Assault II, a misdemeanor.
In another matter, Joey was found in contempt after failing to abide by a court order to appear at a hearing. As a public defender, Joey was also found guilty of repeatedly failing to attend court hearings on behalf of his clients (victims).
As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Professional Conduct Committee punished Joey by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.
Joey’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree – 2003
In this matter, Johnny represented a client that was charged with drug possession. When a hearing was scheduled in the matter, the client was advised that the hearing was canceled, which it wasn’t. Subsequently, the client was stopped by a Fish and Game Warden and arrested on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear at the scheduled hearing.
The client’s wife repeatedly attempt to contact Johnny about her husband’s arrest, but he never responded. Making matters even worse is the fact that Johnny refused to return the client’s $500 retainer event though he never did any work on his behalf.
In another matter, Johnny was hired to pursue a personal injury claim for a client. The client’s repeated calls to Johnny bore no fruit as he refused to respond to any of them. Subsequently, the client’s legal claim was dismissed because of Johnny’s gross negligence in allowing the statute of limitations to pass.
As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Professional Conduct Committee punished Joey by gifting him with a complimentary 60-day suspension of his law license.
Joey’s 3rd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree – 2006
In this case, Johnny was found guilty of the following misconduct:
As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Arkansas Supreme Court Committee on Professional Conduct punished Joey by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.
Joey’s 4th bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree – 2010
As a consequence f his misconduct, the patron saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Arkansas Supreme Court Committee on Professional Conduct punished Joey by gifting him with yet another complimentary reprimand.
It should be noted that in 2000, Joey received a complimentary caution for engaging in a variety of misconduct. Therefore, Joey’s taken at least 5 bites out of the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree.
