Attorney George Maroun of Windham, NH; cheating slacker

The state of Massachusetts presented George Maroun with a law license in 1977 after he graduated from Suffolk University School of Law.
The Board of Bar Overseers found George guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.
-
Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
-
Failed to keep his client reasonably informed about their representation
-
Engaged in conduct involving dishonesty, deceit, fraud or misrepresentation
-
Charged a clearly excessive fee (cheater)
-
Without the client’s knowledge, George submitted to the immigration court an affidavit and asylum application containing falsehoods, forged client signatures, a false certification, and a false notarization
-
After an appeal at the Board of Immigration Appeals was denied, George agreed to represent the client in an appeal to the First Circuit
-
George charged the client $12,000 for the appeal, of which the client paid $9,500; however, after concluding that the client had no grounds for appeal, George decided not to file a brief; a decision he failed to share with his client
-
George continued to accept payments from the client even after allowing the appeal to be dismissed for non-prosecution
As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Board of Bar Overseers punished George by gifting him with a complimentary 2-year suspension of his law license.
As we speak (ca. June 2024), George practices his so-called brand of law with the Law Office of George C. Maroun Jr. in Windham, New Hampshire.
