Judge Nic Woods of England; ethical gremlin

The Law Society provided Stephen Clements with a law license in 2004 after he graduated from the University of Essex School of Law.

The Lord Chief Justice and with the Lord Chancellor’s agreement found Nicky guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Engaged in improper conduct by taking personal advantage of his judicial position
• Used his judicial position in a manner wherein it could be perceived as an attempt to influence or gain advantage
• Engaged in impropriety or the appearance of impropriety
• Remarked to a colleague about what he saw as her husband’s irresponsible driving
• In remarking about irresponsible driving, Nicky referred to the to the fact that he was a magistrate

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Lord Chancellor and Lord Chief Justice punished Nicky by gifting him with complimentary formal warning. It’s my understanding that this type of punishment can be very, very painful, especially if it is delivered in the town square.

As we speak (ca. June 2024), Nicky continues to dispense his so-called idea of jurisprudence as a Justice of the Peace of the Lincolnshire Branch in the United Kingdom.
