Judge Grant Roberts of England; ethical gremlin

The Law Society provided Grant Roberts with a law license in 2004 after he graduated from the University of Essex School of Law.

The Lady Chief Justice and with the Lord Chancellor’s agreement found Grant guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Improperly conducted internet research into cases that Grant was assigned to hear
• Grant’s conduct in researching cases coming before him compromised judicial impartiality
• Engaged in impropriety or the appearance of impropriety
• As a member of three magistrates assigned to a matter and after a barrister complaint about Grant’s independent research of a matter, the case had to be assigned to another three-member judicial panel
• Grant’s actions damaged his integrity and that of overall judiciary

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Lord Chancellor and Lady Chief Justice punished Grant by gifting him with complimentary formal warning. It’s my understanding that this type of punishment can be very, very painful, especially if it is delivered with a loudspeaker.

As we speak (ca. January 2025), Grant continues to dispense his so-called idea of jurisprudence as a Justice of the Peace of the Lincolnshire Branch in the United Kingdom.
