The state of New York presented Donald Patrick Vernon with a law license in 1996 after he graduated from the New York School of Law.
The Appellate Division Grievance Committee found Donnie guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

Misappropriated (stole) client funds entrusted to him as a fiduciary involving three individual clients (thief)

As attorney for the seller of real property in Queens, Donnie received a down payment from the purchaser’s attorney in the amount of $5,000

Donnie never deposited the $5,000 down payment into a designated trust account

When the real estate deal fell apart, Donnie paid back the $5,000 to the seller; however, the because there was no designated account for the seller the $5,000 check cleared against the funds of other clients

Donnie received a $10,000 from the purchaser of a marital residence in Queens, however, Donnie failed to retain said sum in a designated escrow account when the funds were to be distributed

Failed to maintain required bookkeeping records for his attorney escrow account

Failed to consistently and contemporaneously record his receipt of escrow funds

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee punished Donnie by gifting him with a complimentary 6-month suspension of his law license.
As we speak (ca. May 2024), Donnie practices his so-called brand of law with Vernon & Associates PC at 430 West Merrick Road in Valley Stream, New York.
