Attorney Michael Yi of Aurora, CO; ethical troll

The state of Colorado provided Michael Yi with a law license in 2005 after he graduated from Fordham University of Iowa School of Law.

The Colorado State Bar found Mikey guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Engaged in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation
• Committed a criminal act that reflects adversely on the lawyer’s honesty, trustworthiness, or fitness as a lawyer in other respects
• Mikey hired his brother to work as a legal assistant at his firm
• Mikey’s brother served as a licensed notary public
• Over the course of one year, Mikey’s brother took a leave of absence from the law firm; as a result, no notary worked in the office during that time
• During the time his brother was absent, Mikey used his brother’s notary stamp and license, and he forged his brother’s signature on at least fourteen different clients’ settlement documents

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Colorado Supreme Court punished Mikey by gifting him with a complimentary 30-month suspension of his law license. 

And lastly, because Attorney Misfits in Colorado are held to a much lower standard of conduct then everyone else, Mikey was never criminally charged with forgery.

As we speak (ca. April 2024), Mikey practices his so-called brand of law with the Law Offices of Michael Yi Associates P.C. at 2675 South Abilene Street in Aurora, Colorado.
