Attorney Kip Kootz of Hugo, MN; serial drunk driver

The state of Minnesota presented Kip William Kootz with a law license in 1996 after he graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Law.

The Office of Lawyer Regulation found Kip guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Failed to report discipline from Florida
• Convicted of multiple driving while intoxicated (DWI) offenses
• Used false and misleading firm name after being advised that the firm name did not comply with the Minnesota Rules of Professional Conduct

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Minnesota Supreme Court punished Kip by gifting him with a complimentary 30-day suspension of his law license and assessed him $900 in investigative costs.

As we speak (ca. March 2024), Kip practices his so-called brand of law with Kootz & Associates at 420 Summit Avenue in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
