Attorney Joanne Brown of Cleveland, OH; repeat offender

The state of Ohio presented Joanne Brown with a law license in 1977 after she graduated from Cleveland State University School of Law.

The Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association found Joanne guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

Joanne’s 1^st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

• Commingled client funds with her personal funds while serving as guardian for a deceased ward’s estate
• Failed to appropriately account for approximately $12,000 of her client's money
• Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Screw you, said Joanne!)
• Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty, or misrepresentation
• Engaged in conduct adversely reflecting on fitness to practice
• Failed to promptly deliver funds to which client was entitled to receive

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Ohio Supreme court punished Joanne by gifting her with a stayed 1-year suspension of her law license.

In truth, the comedians on the Ohio Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Joanne.

• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• Failed to keep client informed of status of matter
• Failed to comply with client information requests
• Failed to take steps to protect client’s interest upon being terminated

The only thing remaining is to see what if any punishment is meted out to Joanne by the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Ohio Supreme Court.
