Attorney Samuel Asbell of Cherry Hill, NJ; convicted felon

The state of New Jersey presented Samuel Asbell with a law license in 1969 after he graduated from Seton Hall University School of Law.

The New Jersey Office of Attorney Ethics found Sammy guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Sammy charged with the fourth-degree crime of filing a false police report
  • Knowingly gave or caused to be given false information to a law enforcement officer -- Lieutenant Robert Dunlop of the New Jersey State Police -- with purpose to implicate two fictitious individuals in an assassination attempt on his life
  • Sammy acknowledged that he falsely reported to the Camden City and New Jersey State Police that he was shot at by unknown individuals.
  • Admitted guilt to filing false police report and agreed to make restitution of $12,000 to compensate the State, in part, for the cost of the police investigation and the damage to his County-owned automobile
  • Sammy also agreed to refrain from possessing and/or using operable firearms for a period of three years in exchange for his guilty plea
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty, or misrepresentation
  • Engaged in conduct adversely reflecting on fitness to practice

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the New JerseySupreme Court punished Sammy by gifting him with a complimentary 2-year suspension of his law license.

And lastly, as one would suspect, Sammy fails to mention the misconduct set forth above on his self-serving website awww.gelmanlawfirm.com. Apparently, he chose to conceal this relevant information from prospective clients for the purpose of not limiting his future victim pool.

As we speak (ca. January 2024), Sammy practices his so-called brand of law with Gelman Law at 850 Route 70 West in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
