Solicitor Lee Yan of Hong Kong; ethical gremlin

The Law Society of Hong Kong presented Lee Kai Yan with a law license in 2005 after she graduated from the University of Hong Kong School of Law.

The Law Society Disciplinary Counsel found Lee guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in conduct unbefitting a solicitor
  • Conduct was disgraceful and dishonorable
  • Improperly passed confidential client information and/or documents to third parties
  • Intentionally concealed the fact that a Hard Drive containing the Confidential Materials had been removed from the Firm’s office
  • Failed to act with frankness and good faith towards other solicitors
  • Made representations or statements, which she knew to be false or did not believe to be true, to the partners of the Firm
  • Conduct was discreditable and contrary to expected conduct of a solicitor

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal punished Lee by gifting her with a complimentary censure and assessed a fine of HK$10,000.00.

As we speak (ca. January 2024), Lee practices his so-called brand of law in Central, Hong Kong.
