Attorney Charles Butler Jr. of Luray, VA; ethical troll

The state of Virginia presented Charles Allen Butler Jr. with a law license in 1989 after he graduated from Geroge Mason University of School of Law.

The Virginia State Bar Disciplinary Board found Charlie guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Failed to act with candor when dealing with a tribunal
  • Failed to act fairly with opposing party and counsel
  • Misconduct violated his duty to the legal system, the public, and the profession and that the misconduct was intentional
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty, or misrepresentation
  • Engaged in conduct adversely reflecting on fitness to practice law
  • Falsified evidence
  • Knowingly offered evidence he knew to be false

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Virginia Bar Disciplinary Board punished Charlie by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. February 2024), Charlie practices his so-called brand of law at 232 West Main Street in Luray, Virginia.
