Former Judge Robert Whelan of Williamsville, NY; ethical goblin

The state of New York provided Robert E. Whelan with a law license in 1971 after he graduated from the State University of New York Buffalo School of Law.

The New York Commission on Judicial conduct found Ambrose guilty of engaging in the following misconduct, all of which took place while he was employed as a Justice of the Supreme Court, 8th Judicial

District, Erie County, New York.

  • Bobby contacted attorney Richard Gallivan and requested that he contact his clients, Richard Selig and Adrienne Nalbach, and intercede on behalf of Bobby 's wife, Mary Lou Mancuso
  • The contact with Gallivan was made to convince his clients to pay $399.00 that Ms. Mancuso alleged the clients owed on a home warranty policy that as a real estate agent, she had procured in connection with a house that she was assisting the clients in selling
  • While speaking to Gallivan, Bobby confirmed that he was a judge
  • When Gallivan advised Bobby that his clients weren’t obligated to pay the $399.00, Bobby requested that Gallivan ask his clients to "split" the bill with his wife
  • Three times within five days, Bobby contacted Gallivan to urge him to convince his clients to pay a bill related to a real estate transaction handled by Bobby's spouse
  • Bobby’s heavy-handed efforts to negotiate a result that would benefit his wife, a real estate
  • professional who was presumably capable of negotiating on her own behalf, created the
  • appearance that he was using the prestige of his judicial status to advance the private interests of his wife

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Conduct Commission punished Kevin by gifting him with a complimentary admonition.

As we speak (ca. November 2023), Kevin practices his so-called brand of law at 218 Churchill Lane in Fayetteville, New York.
