Solicitor Gary Sham of Hong Kong; ethical dwarf

The Law Society of Hong Kong presented Gary Yick Chun Sham with a law license in 2007 after he graduated from the University of Hong Kong School of Law.

The Law Society Disciplinary Counsel found Ho guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Failed to keep properly written up books and account
  • Failed to record dealings within three working days
  • Deposited money other than money stipulated under relevant rules
  • Failed to produce document required of him by ethics investigators (Screw you, said Sham!)
  • Improperly withdrew client funds from the firm’s client accounts
  • Failed to promptly remedy breaches of expenditure of client funds upon discovery of same’
  • Allowed unauthorized persons to act as signatories regarding the Firm’s client accounts
  • Failed to prepare monthly reconcilations statements of client funds
  • Failed to record all dealings with office money in separate cash book and ledger
  • Failed to state the period covered by interim bills of costs issued by his Firm
  • Compromised his independence and integrity
  • Impugned the reputation of the legal profession
  • Failed failing to transfer all outstanding balances in the clients’ accounts upon the Firm’s cessation of practice to the Firm’s Cessation Agent and notify the Law Society in writing within seven days of the date of cessation of the practice of the Firm
  • Failed to deliver the Firm’s Final Accountant’s Report to the Law Society within the stipulated time

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal punished Sham by gifting him with a complimentary 1-year suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. October 2023), Sham practices his so-called brand of law at 183 Queens Road East, Wanchai, Hong Kong, China.
