Attorney Paul J. Novack of Everett, WA; ethical gremlin

The State of Washington presented James Egan with a law license in 1983 after he graduated from Seattle University School of Law.

As one would suspect, this wasn’t Paulie’s First bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He previously received a complimentary reprimand for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

The Washington State Bar found Paulie guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Failed to safeguard client funds
  • Failed to maintain required trust account records
  • Failed to properly supervise nonlawyer assistants
  • Failed to make reasonable efforts to ensure his firm had in effect measures giving reasonable assurance that his assistant’s conduct was compatible with his professional obligations
  • Failed to keep individual client ledgers and a current and accurate check register
  • Failed to reconcile the check register balance to the combined total of all client ledgers

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Washington Supreme Court punished Paulie by gifting him with a complimentary 9-month suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. August 2023), Paulie practices his so-called brand of law at 2707 Colby Avenue in Everett, Washington.
