Attorney Braulio Escobar of Newport, OR; loser, repeater
The state of Oregon provided Braulio Escobar with a law license in 1978.
The Oregon State Bar found Braulio guilty of the following misconduct:
Escobar was appointed to represent a client on various criminal charges. Shortly thereafter, the client was cited for additional criminal charges. Escobar was also appointed to these cases. Due to the additional charges, the court revoked the client’s bail and ordered her taken into custody.
The client was also under the supervision of the Division of Corrections in another state for a drug conviction. That state moved to revoke her probation. The DA filed a fugitive complaint, which began an extradition proceeding against Escobar’s client. Escobar was also appointed to represent the client in this matter.
While he represented the client and while she was incarcerated, Escobar engaged in conversation with her that were sexually explicit. The discussions focused on sex between inmates, the client’s prior sexual behavior while in prison, and the possibility of future intimate contact between the client and Escobar.
In addition, Escobar provided money to the client’s jail account so that she would have funds available for the jail commissary during the holidays.
This wasn’t Escobar’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He previously received a complimentary letter of admonition for engaging in various misconduct.
As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits at the Oregon State Bar punished Braulio by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.
As we speak (ca. June 2012) Braulio practices law at 530 NW 3rd Street in Newport, Oregon.
