Attorney Marnitta King of Largo, MD; ignoramus, slacker

The state of Maryland presented Marnitta Lanette King with a law license in 2001 after she graduated from the University of Maryland School of Law.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel (ODC) found Marnitta guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Failed to provide competent representation (ignoramus)
• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• Failed to adequately communicate with her client
• Collected unreasonable fees
• Failed to safekeep funds in an attorney trust account
• Failed to make a reasonably diligent effort to comply with a legally proper discovery request by opposing counsel
• Knowingly failed to respond to Bar Counsel (Screw you, said Marnitta!)
• Engaged in conduct that is prejudicial to the administration of justice
• Failed to comply with attorney trust account record-keeping requirements
• Failed to ensure her staff filed her drafted answer to a countercomplaint
• Failed to respond to a motion to compel discovery
• Failed to prepare a pendente lite order even though she agreed to do so in court
• Failed to appear at court-scheduled hearing
• Failed to file a motion to vacate the dismissal of her client’s case
• Repeatedly failed to keep her client informed of pending court matters
• Failed to inform her client that his case had been dismissed
• Failed to deposit and maintain her client’s funds in an attorney trust account until earned
• Overdrew her attorney trust account
• Failed to maintain client matter records

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Maryland Supreme punished Marnitta by gifting her with a complimentary reprimand.

And lastly, as one would suspect, Marnitta fails to mention the above misconduct on her self-serving website at www.kinglaw.org. Apparently, she chose to conceal this relevant information from prospective clients for the purpose of not limiting her future victim pool.

As we speak (ca. June 2023), Marnitta practices her so-called brand of law with King Law PA at 1401 Mercantile Lane in Largo, Maryland.
