Attorney James Atkins of Buffalo, WV; ethical troll

The state of West Virginia presented James Benjamin Atkins with a law license in 2002 after he graduated from the University of West Virginia School of Law.

The Lawyer Disciplinary Board found Jimmy guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Misconduct involved multiple offenses
• Jimmy’s conduct caused actual injury to his client (victim)
• Failed to keep client reasonably informed about the matter
• Failed to promptly comply with sixteen separate requests for information about client settlement funds
• Failed to hold client funds in an account designated as a “client’s trust account
• Failed to promptly notify the client he had received funds in which client had an interest
• Failed to promptly deliver settlement funds to his client
• Wrongfully misappropriated (stole) and converted client funds to his own use
• Failed to properly supervise his nonlawyer assistants to ensure that their conduct was
• compatible with his professional obligations
• Knowingly made a false statement during his sworn statement

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the West Virginia Supreme Court punished Jimmy by gifting him with a complimentary 9-month suspension of his law license.

And lastly,as one would suspect, Jimmy fails to disclose the misconduct set forth above on his self-serving website at www.atkinsoglelaw.com.  Apparently, he chose to conceal this relevant information from prospective clients to ensure he wouldn’t limit her future victim pool.

As we speak (ca. May 2023), Jimmy practices his so-called brand of law with Atkins & Ogle Law Offices LC at 105 River Vista Drive in Buffalo, West Virginia.
