Former Judge Veronica Roby of Elwood, IN; ethical gremlin

The state of Indiana presented Veronic Mia Roby with a law license in 1997 after she graduated Gonzaga University School of Law.

The Indiana Commission on Judicial Qualifications found Veronica guilty of engaging in the following misconduct, all of which took place while she was a judge of the Elwood City Court.

  • Failed to uphold the integrity and independence of the judiciary
  • Used the power of her judicial office to advance her or others’ private interests
  • Veronic engaged in a personal relationship with a defendant charged with public intoxication and contributing to a minor
  • Failed to avoid nepotism and favoritism
  • Veronica’s brother was hired into the court’s probation department
  • Because he was her brother and they lived in the same home and shared household expenses, he would have been legally prevented from being hired by Veronica’s probation department
  • Failed to act at all times in a manner which promotes the public's confidence in the integrity of the judiciary

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Indiana Supreme Court punished by gifting him with a complimentary admonishment.

As we speak (ca. February 2023), Veronica practices her so-called brand of law with the Roby Law Office at 2331 Main Street in Elwood, Indiana.
