Attorney Bruce Bregman of Lynbrook, NY; ethical misfit The state of New York presented Bruce R. Bregman with a law license in 1977 after he graduated from New York University (NYU) Law School.
At one time, Bruce sat as a judge on the Lynbrook Village Court in Nassau County, New York.
During his tenure on the bench, the New York Commission on Judicial Conduct found Bruce guilty of the following misconduct.
Over the course of at least seven (7) years, Bruce filed to advise defendants in traffic cases of a trial date after they pleaded not guilty, which he was required to do under New York law. Bruce unlawfully authorized his court staff to send notices requiring the defendants to appear for pre-trial conferences with prosecutors. He then met with the prosecutors and personally negotiated plea reductions
During his private (ex parte) discussions with prosecutors, Bruce approved plea deals and fines without the defendants being present.
As a consequence of his illegal conduct, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Commission punished Bruce by gifting him with a complimentary admonition.
As we speak (ca. August 2012) Bruce practices law in the Lynbrook, New York area.
